Interesting discussion with partner, on which I'd like input
Auction was 1S - 2C - 2S - 2NT
As the 2NT bidder's partner, I had him down for a double stop in Spades and 16 - 18 hcp. I had a singleton, opps probably had 9 between them, so, I thought, he's likely to have A Q x or better.
In fact he only had one stop (A x), and we duly went down when I left him in NT and the suit was inevitably led against us. Had he had two stops, the contract would have made.
Was mine an unreasonable expectation?
Part of my reasoning was that, after 1S - 2C - 2H - 2NT I would expect two stoppers (one in Hearts and one in Spades)

Do you really want to play this as natural ? The oppo have opened and
responded so it is quite unlikely you have more than 23 points so you
are trying to land on a pin head that is only there if both oppo are
minimum and if they are you can just pass and still get a plus score
(although if they are NV it may not be good at MP's, but partner may
come in again if he can guess you have a good hand from them passing).

Personally 2N from me here would say I have a weak hand and want to play
at the 3 level. Overcaller bids 3C which I may pass to show a weak club
raise or I may convert to 3D/H which would show something like a weak
3D/3H opener, say KQ10xxxx in the suit and nothing else. If I bid 3C
without 2N it shows a good raise and partner can explore further if
suitable. This is an extension of Lebensohl, sometimes called good/bad
2N and sometimes played in reverse so bids are weak and 2N forcing.
