This hand I felt we were hard done by.

All vuln:

AK43
K8
965
8762
JT752 Q986
J43 T962
A7 Q3
A94 KQ3
-
AQ75
KJT842
JT5

N E S W
1D P
1S P 2H P
3NT AP

I started off with the CK and we cashed three club tricks. Unfortunately this set up the 13th club in declarers hand, although this ultimately doesn't matter. Declarer then guessed the diamonds correctly and 3NT came rolling in for another significant negative imp score for us, as at the time of playing this board no-one else was in game.

Did your partner fall asleep in the auction? What happened to his 1S overcall?

Many people think you need 11 points for an overcall
And so they pass the above westhand and overcall 2C over 1S a hand like:

J43
A7
KQ4
J8543

I seen that a lot, and it no help to teach them better
And mind you, they are not newbies,
no new players usually still remember the beginners rules for overcalling!

You were unlucky NS bid game, but what happened to West's 1S overcall? I would feel more hard-done by going for 500 in 3Sx with the field not in game.

Too many quacks to get to 3S on this. This is worth 2S and no more after an overcall.
