This hand came up yesterday in an inter-county match:

Opponents vulnerable, LHO dealt, IMPs

1C 2C(Michaels) 4D 4S
pass pass 5D 5S

K Q 10 3 2
J 10 5 3
A
10 8 7

Do you agree with 5S ?

At the table, 5S was passed out, but if RHO bids 6D - what do you lead ?

5S is ok as a 2-way bid.

Against 6D lead hJ. That will probably allow us to collect our major suit trick (if any).

There's something to be said for passing rather than doubling 6D. Suppose the layout is

x
Ax
xxx
AKxxxxx

KQxxx Axxxxx
Jxxx Kxxxxx
A --
xxx x
x
x
KQJxxxxxxx
Qx.
If I double & lead the wrong major (as I would) they're home. If I pass partner will probably not pass and we do ok.
