Match-points opponents vulnerable, partner dealt:

void
8 7 5 4 3
A 10 5 3
A 10 6 4 2

1C(1) 1S 2H(2) 2S
3H pass ?

1) Precision, 16+ points
2) 8+ points, 5+ hearts

Responder might have bid 2C but 2H is not unreasonable

PS part II will be to play the hand

I appear to have 14 cards.

Sorry, the D3, which I have deleted, has the wrong colour back.

Maybe we need to show both sides of the card when we post :-)

Would a double not have been an option?

Presumably my 2H bid was forcing to game after the 1C opening. I hate
the quality of my heart suit so, in spite of my first-round controls in
the other suits, I think I will bid 4H now rather than anything that
might encourage partner to go slamming..

Assuming that the opponents own the spade suit HCP, you have a great shot at slam. As an aside, are there ways for opener to show anything more than a plain 16-17 point opener with 3+hearts other than 3H? IE does the 3H bid limit his/her hand?

Something like xxxx AKQx KJx Kx will give us a good shot at the grand, so you are indeed slam invitational. I would bid 5H to inquire about the trump suit.
