Firstly I do no think patner's pass is forcing - he could easily bid 4S
on a minimum hand thinking 4H is making and knowing the double fit
protects him from a big penalty.

So we have no idea what to do and my normal philosophy is that the 5
level is for the oppo unless I do know what to do. Hence it is between
pass and double and with AJ in the side suit that they are hoping is
their source of tricks I will double and lead diamonds hoping for -2.

Opps have one too many hearts for partner to have the ideal 4351 hand. On the other hand, partner has opened 1D vulnerable, so I expect something like AQxx xx AKxx xxx as a worst case for his opening. Unfortunately this gets us 10 tricks and probably sets them 2.

Opps have one too many hearts for partner to have the ideal 4351 hand. On the other hand, partner has opened 1D vulnerable, so I expect something like AQxx xx AKxx xxx as a worst case for his opening. Unfortunately this gets us 10 tricks and probably sets them 2.

This 3S bid creates a 'this is our hand scenario'.
The pass of 5H is forcing. Double with 2 hearts,
bid 5S with one or fewer hearts. No thinking.

Never heard that treatment? It is common in Polish Club. Power also has a 5 card D suit.
Pass of 5H is not forcing, of course, but I bid 5S.
